The Past, Present, and Future
The truth behind everything starts from the beginning. The past informs about the history, where the object began, clues, gives a sort of identity to the object. For example the object, let's say "Tim", Tim wants to know the truth behind a box with an appearance of a medival design. Tim decides to investigate over the box to give the box a sort of identity or have a historical background of it. Now Tim had found out a little bit about the box. The present decides our future, it also shapes the truth in a way. Just as a second has passed there is truth that you had read this. To resume, Tim decides to sell the box, for he had no need to keep such an old object, not knowing that the box had something more significant inside, he sells the box for a lower price than it really is. The future is something predicted; a prediction based on the present and the past. Tim later realised the box was of greater fortune when he saw it in the museum. In the story of Oedipus the King, Oedipus found out the truth connecting the past, present and future. The past being his real birth, present being king and married to his mother, and future being the prophecy that was fortold by a prophet. For Tim he realized the truth when he connected the past, present, and future together. The past can be the representation of the future also, since history repeats itself, so the truth can be found by only looking in the past. The present in Oedipus would be him trying to change the prophecy when he believed Polybus was his father.
